Defensor says 17 more ‘Maleta Boys’ ready to testify in flood control probe

Former congressman Mike Defensor said 17 more individuals are prepared to come forward and testify in connection with the alleged flood control scandal.

In an interview Defensor said the additional witnesses would be separate from the 22 individuals who earlier identified themselves as former bodyguards of former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co and claimed to have delivered suitcases containing cash to several politicians.

“May sampu pa and mayroon pang pito. So 17 more, technically,” Defensor said.

He claimed the additional witnesses have personal knowledge of the alleged cash deliveries.

“Ito ’yung mga taong may personal knowledge,” he said.

Defensor also alleged that a single cash delivery involved as many as 52 suitcases, each supposedly containing P50 million, for a total of about P2.6 billion.

He urged the Senate, particularly the Blue Ribbon Committee, to continue its investigation to determine the source and intended recipients of the alleged funds linked to the flood control scandal.

The allegations have yet to be independently verified and remain subject to investigation.
