Trump rejects Iran response to US peace proposal as ‘unacceptable’

U.S. President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s response to a U.S.-backed peace proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, calling Tehran’s terms “totally unacceptable.”

Iran’s counterproposal reportedly demanded compensation for war damages, the lifting of sanctions, guarantees against future attacks, and recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route.

Tehran also pushed for an end to fighting across the region, particularly in Lebanon.

“I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, without giving further detail.

The standoff immediately rattled global markets, with oil prices surging amid fears that disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz could persist.

The strategic waterway handles roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply and has become a major flashpoint in the conflict.

The rejection also casts uncertainty over future diplomatic efforts as Washington continues to pressure Tehran over its nuclear program and regional activities.
