PAL suspends Doha, Dubai flights amid Middle East tensions

Philippine Airlines has extended the suspension of its Doha and Dubai flights due to ongoing security risks and unstable airspace conditions in the Middle East.

In an advisory, PAL announced that Manila-Doha-Manila flights PR 684 and PR 685 will remain canceled until June 30, 2026, with an additional cancellation for the July 1 Doha-Manila flight.

Meanwhile, Manila-Dubai-Manila flights PR 658 and PR 659 will remain suspended until August 2, 2026.

The airline said the decision was made following continued regional instability, including risks to critical infrastructure, sudden airspace closures, and limited routing options.

“Safety remains our top priority,” PAL said.

“With unpredictable conditions — including restricted airspace, sudden closures, and limited routing options — we are taking a more cautious approach based on our safety assessment,” the airline added.

PAL said affected passengers may rebook flights without additional charges, convert tickets into travel credits with a 20 percent bonus, or request full refunds.

The airline noted that refund processing may take around eight days due to the high volume of requests linked to Middle East flight disruptions, while bank processing could take two to four weeks.

Passengers who booked through travel agencies were advised to coordinate directly with their agents for refund processing.

Despite the suspensions, PAL said flights to and from Riyadh continue to operate as of this time, although the airline continues to monitor developments closely.

The advisory came amid heightened tensions across the Gulf region following drone attacks, missile interceptions, and security threats affecting several countries in the Middle East.

Airlines across the region have adjusted routes and schedules in recent weeks due to concerns over airspace safety and possible disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict.
