Iran accuses U.S. of violating ceasefire with attacks near Strait of Hormuz

Iran has accused the United States of violating a ceasefire agreement after allegedly targeting two vessels near the Strait of Hormuz and launching airstrikes on civilian areas along the country’s southern coast.

In a statement carried by Iranian state media, a spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said the U.S. targeted an Iranian oil tanker traveling from coastal waters near Jask toward the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran also claimed another vessel entering the strategic waterway near the Emirati port of Fujairah was attacked.

The military command further alleged that the United States, with the cooperation of some regional countries, conducted airstrikes on civilian areas along the coasts of Bandar Khamir, Sirik, and Qeshm Island.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global shipping route, particularly for oil exports, amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.
