Caloocan Representative Edgar Erice is backing Mar Roxas for a potential presidential run, saying the former lawmaker can “reset” the country toward a more progressive path.
In an interview, Erice urged Filipinos to rethink how they choose leaders, emphasizing competence, integrity, and qualifications over popularity.
“Kung gusto nating magbago ang gobyerno, magbago tayo ng batayan sa pagpili,” he said.
Erice pointed to the administration of Benigno Aquino III, describing the Philippines during that period as an “economic tiger” with a stable and growing economy.
He said Roxas could have continued those gains after 2016 and remains a capable leader.
“Si Mar Roxas ang makakapag-reset,” Erice said when asked directly if he supports Roxas for the presidency.
The remarks add to early political positioning ahead of future national elections, as allies begin floating potential candidates and narratives around leadership and governance.
