Abu Dhabi Police has urged motorists to stay fully focused while driving and avoid distractions, especially during traffic congestion or sudden stops, warning that a lack of attention can lead to serious accidents.
The Traffic and Patrols Directorate issued the warning through a public awareness video featuring footage of actual road accidents. The video was produced in coordination with the Command and Control Centre as part of the “Your Comment” initiative.
The campaign reminds drivers to follow traffic rules and remain alert to sudden stops on both internal and external roads.
Authorities specifically warned motorists against using mobile phones while driving, including browsing the internet or social media, making calls, taking photos, or engaging in other activities that take attention away from the road.
According to Abu Dhabi Police, drivers caught operating a vehicle while distracted face a fine of Dh800 and four black points on their traffic record.
