Abu Dhabi International Airport’s highly anticipated Midfield terminal, now referred to as Terminal A, is poised to launch in early November. This development is set to reinforce Abu Dhabi’s stature as a global hub for trade and commerce.
In a statement released on Thursday, Abu Dhabi Airports, the state-owned operator said the new Terminal A is designed to accommodate a substantial passenger volume of up to 45 million annually, manage 11,000 travelers every hour, and handle 79 aircraft concurrently.
“As Abu Dhabi’s new gateway to the world, Terminal A is an embodiment of Abu Dhabi Airports’ commitment to support the emirate’s sustainable economic development,” Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Airports, said.
“The opening of the facility, which is on par with the largest and grandest on our planet, turns over a new page in Abu Dhabi’s 55-year aviation history. A beacon of modernity and sophistication, it will be a pivotal driver for our emirate’s growth by spurring tourism and trade,” he added.
Covering 742,000 square metres of built-up area, Terminal A ranks among the world’s largest airport terminals. Its inauguration will substantially amplify Abu Dhabi International Airport’s passenger and cargo capacities.
