Comedian and actress Awra Briguela was arrested after a brawl that took place in a bar in Poblacion in Makati City on Thursday morning.
The Southern Police District (SPD) said that Awra or Mc Neal Briguela is the primary suspect.
Awra was nabbed for physical injuries, alarm and scandal, direct assault, and disobedience to a person in authority.
Mark Christian Ravana, one of the complainants, said that the incident took place during a farewell party. He said that Awra and some of her friends approached their group and started a confrontation.
Ravana even went out of the bar and Awra followed him but she violently tore his shirt.
When the police arrived on the scene, Awra became verbally abusive toward the officers and expressed disregard for their authority.
Awra also pushed an arresting officer which eventually led to her arrest.
Based on social media posts, one of Awra’s friends claimed that the social media star was just defending her after she was harassed by the complainants.
“After this harassment against me and my friend Mary Joy, my dear friend Awra confronted the guy very calmly after the party to defend me and our friend,” one of Awra’s friends said in a now-deleted post.
