The Philippines braces itself for impact of Super Typhoon Karding (Intl:Noru) and has officially suspended classes and work for September 26, Monday.
According to Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has approved the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s (NDRRMC) recommendation to suspend work and classes.
“The President has approved the NDRRMC’s recommendation to suspend work and classes due to Typhoon Karding,” she said in a statement.
In a letter to the President, the NDRRMC predicted “heavy to intense torrential rainfall” from Karding, which is expected to make landfall on Sunday night near some areas in Quezon and Aurora.
Super Typhoon “Karding” will soon affect over 8 areas in Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 240 km/h.
In the latest bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA), the center of the eye of Super Typhoon ‘Karding’ was last seen over the coastal waters of Burdeos, Polillo Islands, Quezon.
