Dubai Municipality, in partnership with the Community Development Authority (CDA), has launched the ‘Safe Water for a Healthy Community’ initiative to ensure household water remains free from chemical and bacterial contaminants.
This program focuses on improving water quality, especially in senior citizens’ homes and villas.
The initiative will begin with inspections in 42 homes across 10 areas in Dubai. Engineering teams will assess water systems, collect samples, and test them at Dubai Central Laboratory. If contamination is found, corrective actions will be taken to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Dr. Naseem Mohammed Rafee, Acting CEO of the Environment, Health, and Safety Agency at Dubai Municipality, stressed the importance of preventive measures: “By implementing proactive measures, we aim to enhance public health protection, improve water quality, and strengthen Dubai’s sustainable health system.”
Muhannad Saeed, Director of the Senior Citizens Department at CDA, highlighted the initiative’s role in protecting the elderly from waterborne diseases. He emphasized that safe water is essential for maintaining health and daily comfort.
Dubai Municipality and CDA will also hold public awareness workshops to educate residents on water hygiene, proper maintenance, and contamination risks. The goal is to promote long-term water safety and sustainable living practices.
Authorities urge residents, including OFWs renting or owning homes, to clean and disinfect their water tanks every six months using Dubai Municipality-approved companies.
