As the nation braces for Super Typhoon “Karding” (international name: Noru), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region has readied over 25,600 relief packages for families who will be affected by the storm.
The DSWD Region IV-A reported that 13,882 family food packs and 11,737 family kits totaling P41.5 million had been provided for the region’s impacted citizens. A family kit pack includes modular tents as well as kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping items.
“These are available for distribution as augmentation supports to local government units that may be affected by typhoon Karding,” read a statement from DSWD Region IV-A.
The organization claimed to have raw ingredients worth P4.95 million, including rice, coffee, and canned items, to produce an extra 8,177 family meal kits.
Additionally, the DSWD in the area stated that it had P2.01 million in reserve funds for potential last-minute purchases of aid items to supplement the needs of the impacted families.
