Sharjah Police rescue youth after vehicle’s cruise control breaks down at 120 km/h

Sharjah Police rescued a 22-year-old motorist after his vehicle’s cruise control broke down at 120 km/h on the Khor Fakkan Road on Wednesday.

The operations room and patrols at the Sharjah Police helped the Emirati driver after the incident was reported at about 2:10 am.

A patrol team was dispatched immediately and they managed to bring the car under control soon after the Central Operations Room at the Sharjah Police received a call of breakdown in cruise control on the Khorfakkan Road in the direction of Sharjah.

One patrol team went ahead of the vehicle to keep the road clear, while another vehicle followed the motorist and made sure that he was fastened with the seatbelt to ensure his safety.

They then urged the man to steer the vehicle to the slow lane, and switch on the hazard lights and to bring the speeding vehicle to a halt and to stop the vehicle without causing any injuries to its driver, the patrol driver brought his vehicle in front of the vehicle with the malfunctioned cruise control and then gradually slowed the patrol’s speed until it stopped smoothly, without causing any injuries to the driver.

Following the incident, the Sharjah Police called on motorists not to rely entirely on the cruise control stressing the need to adhere to the speed limits.
