A Filipino-American who wielded a walis tambo (broom) in a riot at the US Capitol pleaded guilty over his participation in the January 6 rampage.
The man identified as Kene Lazo was arrested in May after being cited for “unlawful entry” and tagged as a “person of interest” by Washington DC police.
Lazo joined a group of former president Donald Trump supporters and breached the Capitol following the victory of US President Joe Biden.
Lazo was noticed after he was seen wearing a helmet, goggles and a broom. He also posted his photo on his Facebook account.
He reportedly admitted before US District Judge Christopher Cooper that he entered the Capitol building. He also revealed that he had spent some 30 minutes in the Rotunda and the Senate chamber.
The Fil-Am now faces six months of imprisonment. Under the plea agreement, he will pay $500 in restitution.
The verdict on his case will be decided on July 6.
