The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) welcomed 13 Filipinos from Ukraine at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Tuesday night.
The group’s arrival increases the number of repatriated Filipinos from Ukraine to 19.
DFA Undersecretary Sarah Lou Y. Arriola and Assistant Secretary Paul Raymund P. Cortes of the DFA’s Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Worker’ Affairs led the welcome ceremony at NAIA.
“This group of repatriates was part of some 40 evacuees who left Kyiv for Lviv following the security situation in the country’s capital,” the DFA said in a statement.
“DFA Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr. welcomed them at the border in Poland. The group departed from Warsaw Chopin airport and flew to Manila via Dubai, UAE,” it added.
The government is shouldering the costs of the repatriation including all transport expenses, food, and accommodation.
