The deployment of Overseas Filipinos workers (OFWs) has picked up amid the relaxation in COVID-19 restrictions.
As Philippines and other countries have relaxed travel restrictions, the deployment of OFWs has improved this year.
Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) director Levinson Alcantara said there has been a “steady growth of deployment”. He said that the numbers have grown for both land-based and sea-based workers.
As per POEA’s latest data showed that there were 1,595,414 land-based workers and 449,463 sea-based workers deployed in 2017 and in 2018 the number was 1,649,487 land-based workers and 448,102 sea-based workers.
In 2019, there were 1,649,012 and 507,730 land-based, and sea-based workers deployed respectively.(AW)
