President Rodrigo Duterte believes that Senator Bato Dela Rosa have what it takes to become the country’s next president.
Duterte made the pronouncement after confirming that his daughter Sara is no longer joining the race.
Bato made a surprise move on October 8 after he filed his certificate of candidacy for president.
“Inday is definitely out as she has said earlier and for the repeated statements in so many, I think interviews, she has maintained that she’s not running. She was just true to her words,” Duterte said.
The president said that Sara is still young and has many options in her political life.
“Inday is young and there will always be some opportunities in the future for her. Not necessarily the presidency but, well, one of those options in life, especially if you think of the imponderables of life,” he said.
Duterte told SMNI that Bato could be good for the country.
“He might still make it. With so many candidates filing certificates of candidacy, he might… you know?” he said.
“You can never tell the destiny of man. It would be good to have a military man as president of this republic,” the president added.
