President Rodrigo Duterte has officially declared that he is retiring from politics.
This comes after Senator Bong Go filed his candidacy for vice president for the 2022 elections which was previously accepted by Duterte.

Duterte said that he is aware of the sentiment of the people that he may be circumventing the law if he runs for VP.
A recent Social Weather Stations survey showed that the majority of Filipinos believe that Duterte running for VP is unconstitutional.
“Sundin ko ang gusto niyo, and today I announce my retirement from politics,” Duterte said.

The twist in the PDP-Laban move now paved the way for more concerns if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will now run for president.
Sara initially said that only one Duterte can run for a national post. (TDT)
