The Armed Forces of the Philippines confirmed that a C-130 plane with 85 passengers on board crashed in Sulu on Sunday.
The plane was reportedly transporting troops to Cagayan De Oro when the incident happened.
AFP chief Gen. Cirilito Sobejana said that at least 40 passengers have been rescued and are now undergoing treatment at the 11th Infantry Division Hospital in Busbus town, Sulu.
“We are doing our best effort to rescue the passengers. ‘Yung ating ground commander nandun na, si Gen. Gonzales doing his best effort na naapula yung apoy at ma-rescue safely yung mga passengers,” Sobejana said in a message to reporters.
Sobejana said that the aircraft initially missed the runway.
“Na-miss niya yung runway trying to regain power, at hindi nakayanan, bumagsak dun sa may Barangay Bangkal, Patikul, Sulu,” he said. (TDT)
