Two expats arrested in Dubai for attempting to sell drugs in UAE

Dubai officials reiterate their call for the public not to attempt to bring drugs to the country after two expats were arrested for possession and attempt to sell drugs in the country.
A spokesperson from the Dubai Police stated that the two had been taken into custody and have referred the case to public prosecution.
“Two British nationals were arrested for the possession of narcotics with the intent to supply. They were taken into custody and charged with possession of cannabis, pills, and other items that are classified as illegal substances in the UAE,” said the spokesperson as per a tweet from the Dubai Media office.

The UAE states that the country has a zero-tolerance policy for the recreational usage of drugs, and that severe penalties would apply for all violators even for mere possession of the drug.
“The penalty for personal possession can be up to 10 years imprisonment, and drug trafficking can result in a life sentence,” warned officials.
