LOOK: Pampanga’s Parols give PH Embassy a festive vibe

Parols (colorful lanterns) that were specially flown in from the City of San Fernando, Pampanga (known as the Christmas capital of the Philippines) are currently on display at the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The display of the iconic Christmas lantern from Pampanga called Parul Sampernandu, the symbol that makes Christmas quintessentially Filipino, is one of the Embassy’s cultural diplomacy projects to highlight Philippine lantern-making technology and traditions. The display was made possible through the generosity of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, and assistance from the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IIEE) – Abu Dhabi Chapter, and the United Cebuanos, as part of the Embassy’s Paskong Pinoy sa Abu Dhabi program.
