Tributes pour in as showbiz industry mourns Eddie Garcia’s demise

Celebrities took to social media their sympathies and respect to veteran actor Eddie Garcia.

Garcia passed away Tuesday afternoon, following a  two-week comatose due to a neck fracture.

Veteran actress Gloria Romero and Garcia’s co-actor in the 2018 movie “Rainbow Sunset,” said the industry has lost an icon.

“We lost a very good actor, a director, an icon. Napakasipag niya po. Masyadong mahal niya ang industry,” Romero said on CNN Philippines.

Paulo Avelino called Garcia a ‘legend’.

“Rest in peace Tito Eddie Garcia. 300++ films made in his lifetime. TRULY A LEGEND!  ” Paulino said in a tweet.

Megastar Sharon Cuneta posted a number of photos of the actor, thanking him for all his great contribution to the industry.

“Wala pong sinuman ang makakapalit sa trono niyo, Mister Eddie Garcia,” Cuneta said.

Anne Curtis also said Garcia is a great loss to Philippine showbiz.

“It is a sad and heartbreaking day as we lose a legend in our industry – who was so loved by many. Rest in Peace Tito Eddie. My prayers are with his family ?”

Director Jun Lana posted a photo of Garcia from one of the scenes of their award winning film “Bwakaw.” Lana wrote “No goodbyes, Tito Eddie. You will always be remembered.”

Carmina Villaroel recalled how Garcia always remember their first film together, “Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa.”

“RIP Tito Eddie. It was an honor to meet you and to have worked with you. My very first movie was with you and everytime we would see each other, you would always remember and mention that movie. Thank you Tito Eddie. You will be missed!  ,” Villaruel said.

“Ang Probinsyano” star Coco Martin couldn’t hold back his disbelief on Garcia’s death.

On his Instagram post, he wrote “Di ko maipaliwanag ang lungkot at sakit na nararamdaman namin ngayon. Iniisip ko nalang po na ang Diyos ang may kagustuhan ng lahat ng nangyari sa atin.”

A career that spanned at least 70 years. Garcia’s influence transcends different generations and is a legacy that will always be remembered in the years to come.
