Vice Ganda shares story of Japanese woman who paid for his studies

Actor-comedian Vice Ganda revealed the reason why Japan and its people are close to his heart.

During last Sunday’s episode of his late night comedy talk show “Gandang Gabi Vice”, Vice Ganda had a talk with Japanese “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Fumiya Sankai wherein the former enumerated the reasons why he loves Japan.

“I love Japan. I love the food. I love the weather,” Vice Ganda said.

But aside from the aforementioned reasons, Vice Ganda also said that Japanese people are nice as he was able to go to school with the help of one.

“You know, Japanese people are very nice. I was sent to school by a Japanese woman whom I was not able to meet. I was a scholar of a Japanese woman,” Vice Ganda said.

“She sent me to school when I was a kid until college. She sent me money to go to school. She’s from Kyoto, Japan,” he added.

This isn’t the first time Vice Ganda talked about the Japanese sponsor who helped him by paying for his studies when he was younger.

During the Holy Week Special of ABS-CBN’s noontime show “It’s Showtime”, Vice Ganda also expressed his gratitude and left a heartwarming message to the same Japanese woman.

“Gusto kong magpasalamat sa kaniya. Gusto kong malaman niya na ako yung paslit na pinag-aral niya noon. May nangyaring maganda sa buhay ko dahil sa tulong niya sa akin.

“Kaya ngayon, ako naman ang may kakayahang tumulong, ako naman ang magpapa-aral sa mga deserving na makapag-aral… Kasi kailangan natin yun…” Vice Ganda said back then.
