Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay: “I fell in love with Dubai 18 years ago”

World-renowned Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay chef Gordon Ramsay might be known for his harsh choice of words in his television shows, but he only has good things to say when he is asked about Dubai.

In an interview with Euro News, the popular British food connoisseur said that he first fell in love with Dubai 18 years ago when he opened a restaurant in the Hilton Dubai Creek.

“I fell in love with Dubai 18 years ago when we opened up at the Creek. Look what’s happened to Dubai since then, it’s been incredible,” he said.

He was referring to Verre, also known as Gordon Ramsay at the Hilton Dubai Creek, which was the first overseas restaurant to be opened by Ramsay, and was in operation for ten years between 2001 and 2011.

He then went on to say that Dubai, which he referred to as a “foodie city”, is highly competitive and has great market.

“Guaranteed weather, guaranteed good food, and an amazing beach,” he added.

Ramsay is known in the entertainment industry as the stern, foul-mouthed, and highly-critical chef in several reality television cooking shows, such as “Masterchef US”, “Hell’s Kitchen”, “Kitchen Nightmares”, and “The F- Word”.

He recently opened Hell’s Kitchen Dubai which is located at Caesars Palace Bluewaters.

The said restaurant is only the second of its kind, which the first one located in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The concept of the restaurant is inspired by his Emmy Award-winning show of the same name.

According to a report by The National, the restaurant is located on the hotel’s lower level. It can seat as many as 260 diners, inside and out and features a pitchfork-centered H-K logo, slick modern interiors, and a red and blue kitchen.

Their website also noted that “the Red and Blue kitchens serve up Ramsay’s signature dishes including the Beef Wellington, Eggs in Purgatory and the sweet, heavenly Sticky Toffee Pudding in this upscale restaurant.”
