‘Most influential Pinoy fotog in Middle East’ donates cultural photos

by

The “most influential photographer in the Middle East” has donated photos depicting the culture, attire, dances and musical instruments of the six provinces in Cordillera to the University of the Cordillera (UC).

Baguio native Eros Goze shot the photos during his visit to the region from December 2016 to April 2017 for exhibition at the “UC Saeng Ya Kasay” Cor de Mayo festival.

Goze, a graduate of Mass Communication at Saint Louis University, used as models members of the UC Saeng Ya Kasay Ensemble. They served as live mannequins donning the indigenous attires of the six provinces of the Cordillera.

Goze made a name in the high-end portrait photography in the Middle East while based in Dubai. He was chosen by Philippine Arts Music and Sports awards (PAMAS) as Photographer of the Year in 2013. He was also tagged by a magazine in Middle East as the Most influential Filipino photographer in Middle East.

Goze did photography for Vogue Italia on-line magazine and for Leo Burnett Advertising agency. He has done various shoots for Splash and Iconic clothing brands.

He was a fashion photographer of Twooneseven Studio, worked in three respectable fashion houses and as a fashion designer with the Farfalla Haute Couture.

The donated photos will become part of the cultural preservation materials of UC.

Engr. Aloysius Mapalo, dean of Student Affairs of UC, said the Cor de Mayo is a Cordillera cultural festival during the month of May.

“In the lowlands, they have the Flores de Mayo, but since we do not have it here, we thought of having the Cor de Mayo which will feature the culture of the region,” Mapalo said.

The university, he said, carries the name of the region – Cordillera, and the Cor de Mayo is the institution’s contribution to the preservation of the unique culture.

Mapalo said the event resonates the vision of the university’s founder, Atty. Benjamin Romero Salvosa.

“Our founder envisioned UC to be in the forefront of cultural preservation and we need to educate our students to learn to appreciate and respect it,” he said.
