Dubai Metro sets new Guinness World Record

The Dubai Metro has set a new world record for the most diverse set of commuters riding the train together on Thursday, November 1.

The Guinness World Record attempt was part of the culmination of the week-long celebration of Public Transport Day, reported Al Bawaba.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said that the Dubai Metro was able to set a new world record after commuters from 96 different countries came together and formed a human chain in the said train.

The previous record was made of 75 nationalities set by Norway in 2013.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance, and Mattar Al Tayer, RTA director general and chairman of the board of Executive Directors, received the certification of the world record from the adjudicators of Guinness World Records.

“The achievement comes at a very opportune time as we also celebrate the UAE Flag Day. We are a country of 200 nationalities and this shows the harmony and tolerance in the country that unite us together,” Al Nahyan said.
