The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) warned the public against fake advertisements offering real estate investments in the country and overseas.
According to the TRA, these ads are usually sent through mobile phones to reach the public more easily.
Residents are advised to ensure the legitimacy of the offer before investing.
According to the Ministry of Interior, residents should first confirm the name of the company offering the investment and its trade license before responding to advertisements.
The TRA has implemented measures in response to the issue including the banning of promotional SMS from 9pm to 7am, and coordination with telecom companies to allow residents to block a number.
