Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach said in an interview with PUSH that she has a backup plan in case her career as an actress would not prosper.
With multiple endorsement, TV and film projects, and an international beauty pageant title, there is no denying that Wurtzbach is one of the brightest stars in the Philippines at the moment.
After the release of her first major movie “My Perfect You”, Wurtzbach reminisced her early experiences as an actress under the screen name Pia Romero.
Wurtzbach was first included on the Star Circle Batch 11. During her younger years, she has starred on different TV shows such as “K2BU”, “Your Song”, “Bora”, and “Sa Piling Mo”.
However, Wurtzbach admitted that she did not became a prominent actress before because of her “awkward acting”. Nevertheless, the beauty queen remains optimistic that her career misfortunes in the past lead to her success today.
“Okay lang naman sa akin yun. Kasi kung sumikat ako noon hindi ako makakasali sa Binibini (Pilipinas pageant) at hindi ako magiging Miss Universe at hindi ako mapupunta dito. Lahat naman siya magkaka-connect,” Wurtzbach said in an interview with PUSH.
However, if history would repeat itself and if she would not succeed as an actress, she has no problem with working behind the camera.
“Kung hindi naman ako nabigyan nang pagkakataon ulit, then I will find a way at ako ang gagawa ng paraan to do the same ng gusto ko. If I’m not the one on camera, I would say na I’ll be working behind the camera. That’s how easy.
“May scholarship pa pala ako sa New York Film Academy na naghihintay sa akin. Gagamitin ko pero hindi muna ngayon,” she said.
Wurtzbach was referring to the one-year scholarship from the New York Film Academy College of Visual Performing Arts, which was one of the prizes she received as Miss Universe.
