With the clash between the government and terror groups in Marawi is still ongoing, Manila congressman urged President Rodrigo Duterte to label a bill he authored as ‘urgent’.
Rep. Manuel “Manny” Lopez of the first district of Manila proposed the Terrorism Threat Deterrence Act of 2017, or House Bill No. 5382, to stop terrorists from communicating through the use of social media and mobile networks.
The bill includes the mandatory registration of prepaid mobile phone lines and social media accounts.
Lopez points that the bill is relevant and urgent due to the increase of security threats from groups in Mindanao that had sworn to Islamic State.
