Residents of a village in Nabua, Camarines Sur were shocked to find dead 100 ducks they were raising when they woke up Wednesday.
Most of the dead ducks had pierced breasts, broken wings and their entrails sticking out prompting rumors from the residents that the fowls were either killed a dog or by an aswang (native ghost).
But Barangay Chairman Julian Abonal suspect that a reptile known locally as ugot was responsible for the “massacre”.
It was the third time the village suffered a mass kill of ducks.
The duck raisers of the village’s Nabua West Cooperative were expecting the ducks to lay eggs in September. The remaining 300 ducks were transferred to Barangay Antonion to prevent another mass death.
