Dubai Police have urged motorists to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before traveling this summer, emphasizing the importance of inspecting tires and other safety features as temperatures continue to rise.
Authorities said proper vehicle maintenance is essential to preventing accidents caused by mechanical failures and poor vehicle condition.
Dubai Police recorded 3,589 vehicle safety violations during the first five months of the year. These included 1,737 cases involving vehicles that failed to meet safety requirements, 1,026 unroadworthy vehicles, and 826 violations involving expired tires.
Brig. Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, director of the General Department of Traffic, advised motorists to carry out regular maintenance checks and ensure all safety requirements are met before driving.
He also warned against installing unauthorized external vehicle modifications, saying such alterations can lead to mechanical failures and increase the risk of vehicle fires.
Dubai Police said traffic awareness and enforcement campaigns are being intensified across the UAE during the summer, particularly targeting vehicles with worn-out or expired tires, and urged motorists to follow traffic rules to ensure safer journeys.
