Overseas Filipino workers departing from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport can now access the country’s third OFW Lounge following its opening on June 26 under the government’s Alagang OWWA program.
The facility, inaugurated by Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan, is designed to provide a more comfortable waiting area for OFWs before their international flights.
The lounge has an 80-seat capacity and offers free food and drinks, complimentary Wi-Fi, charging stations, and dedicated OFW assistance desks where migrant workers can seek information and government services.
Frontline OWWA services, including membership registration and renewal, OWWA E-Card issuance, and other welfare assistance, are also available inside the lounge.
A Department of Migrant Workers OFW Facilitation Center has likewise opened at the airport to assist departing workers with Overseas Employment Certificates and other travel-related concerns.
The OFW Lounge was established through a partnership among the Department of Migrant Workers, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation.
The government said the new facility forms part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to expand airport services for overseas Filipino workers and improve their travel experience. Officials said the OFW lounges at NAIA Terminals 1 and 3 have already served more than two million OFWs.
