Eligible Filipinos can now obtain visa-on-arrival in UAE
MANILA, Philippines — Filipino citizens holding valid visas, residence permits or Green Cards from several countries will now be eligible for visa-on-arrival entry to the United Arab Emirates beginning June 25, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The DFA said the privilege applies to Philippine passport holders with valid visas, residence permits or Green Cards issued by the United States, member states of the European Union, Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Canada and New Zealand.
Under the new arrangement, eligible travelers may choose between a 14-day visa-on-arrival for a fee of 100 UAE dirhams or a 60-day visa-on-arrival for 250 dirhams.
The 14-day visa may be extended once for an additional 14 days upon payment of a 250-dirham extension fee. The 60-day visa is not extendable.
The DFA said the visa-on-arrival privilege was granted in recognition of the strong bilateral relations between the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates.
Officials said the new policy is expected to provide greater travel convenience for qualified Filipino travelers visiting the UAE for tourism, business and other short-term purposes.
The UAE is home to one of the largest Filipino communities overseas, with hundreds of thousands of Filipinos living and working across the Gulf state.
The DFA advised travelers to ensure that their visas, residence permits or Green Cards from the qualifying countries remain valid before departure to avoid travel disruptions.
The visa-on-arrival policy takes effect on June 25.
