Cash remittances from overseas Filipino workers increased in April compared with a year earlier but fell to their lowest monthly level in 11 months, according to data released by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
The BSP reported that cash remittances coursed through banks reached $2.718 billion in April 2026, up 2% from $2.664 billion recorded in the same month last year.
Despite the annual increase, April remittances declined from $2.874 billion posted in March and marked the lowest monthly total since May 2025.
The central bank also noted that the 2% year-on-year increase was among the weakest growth rates recorded in recent years.
For the first four months of 2026, cumulative cash remittances reached $11.398 billion, representing a 2.6% increase from the level recorded during the same period in 2025.
Remittances from overseas Filipinos remain a key source of foreign exchange for the Philippines and continue to support household consumption and economic activity across the country.
