Abu Dhabi police urge pedestrians to use designated crossings for safety

Abu Dhabi Police have called on pedestrians to strictly use designated bridges, tunnels, and pedestrian crossings to enhance safety and reduce the risk of road accidents.

The advisory is part of GCC Traffic Week 2026, which carries the theme “I Cross Safely” and aligns with broader efforts to advance smart road safety and promote a forward-looking approach to sustainable traffic management.

Authorities warned that crossing roads from undesignated areas remains a dangerous practice that endangers both pedestrians and motorists.

They emphasized that the UAE’s modern infrastructure, including pedestrian bridges, tunnels, and surface crossings, has been carefully designed to ensure safe and efficient movement across roads.

Police further urged the public to act responsibly, adhere to traffic regulations, and consistently use proper crossing facilities, stressing that road safety is a shared responsibility requiring collective cooperation to protect lives.
