The Land Transportation Office has extended the validity of driver’s licenses and motor vehicle registrations expiring this April by three months, in line with a directive from Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the declaration of a State of National Energy Emergency.
The LTO said the extension aims to ease the burden on motorists as fuel prices and basic commodity costs continue to rise.
“In line with the directive of President Marcos Jr.… the LTO announces the extension of validity for documents expiring beginning April 2026 for a period of three months,” the agency said.
Covered by the extension are driver’s licenses, conductor’s licenses, student-driver’s permits, and motor vehicle registrations.
Under the extended validity period, motorists will not be charged any surcharge, penalty, or fine for late renewal.
The agency said the policy is intended to give the public more time to comply with requirements without additional financial strain amid ongoing economic pressures.
