The German Embassy in Manila has recently introduced the ‘Opportunity Card’—its new residence permit which allows aspiring overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to stay in Germany for up to 12 months for job-hunting purposes.

According to their official site, skilled workers with recognized degrees in Germany must present proof of full recognition of their qualification. Those with partial or unrecognized degrees need to show proof of partial recognition or confirmation of their qualification and must have A1-level German or B2-level English skills.

Additionally, those with partial or unrecognized degrees will follow a points-based system, requiring at least 6 points to qualify. So, if your degree is already partially recognized in Germany, you will automatically get 4 points. Your additional points can be obtained through the level of your advanced language skills, professional experience in the desired field, and other considerations.
Check out the list of qualifications down below along with their corresponding points:
- German language skills B2 is equal to 3 points
- German language skills B1 is equal to2 points
- German language skills A2 is equal to 1 point
- English language skills C1 is equal to 1 point
If you have professional experience of five years in the last seven years for your desired job, that will be 3 points. While, three years of experience in the last five years is equivalent to 2 points. Your age will also have equivalent points, if you are under the age of 35, you will get 2 points, while 35 and 40 years old will get 1 point.
