Senate President Tito Sotto said he is willing to run for the 2022 Vice Presidential race if Senator Ping Lacson will be his running mate.
In an interview on ABS-CBN News, Sotto said that he will run for higher office if he chooses to change his earlier decision to retire.
Sotto currently ranks third among preferred vice-presidential bets based on the latest survey of Pulse Asia.
The Senate president said that he would rather be open on his decision to run rather than those politicians who would say no at first and later on decide to run.
Sotto said that if the Vice President will be in charge of handling the problem of illegal drugs and abuse, this would be a big game-changer for him.
Sotto said he supports Lacson’s possible presidential bid although the veteran lawmaker lags behind other presidential bets.
The senator added that he, Lacson, and Senator Manny Pacquiao were supposed to meet Sunday evening.
Sotto said that he would make his decision in August and September.
