UAE’s COVID-19 vaccine priority plan provides free doses to over 70% of elderly population, people with chronic conditions

His Excellency Abdulrahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, announced on Tuesday that UAE has provided to 70.21% of elderlies and people with chronic conditions.

“The vaccine was provided to 70.21% of elderlies and people with chronic conditions, which is the priority of this great national effort,” said Al Owais.

This, as the UAE also reached its target of providing free vaccines to 52.46% of the total population in the country.

“Today, we announce a new achievement for the UAE in reducing and combating the COVID-19 pandemic, as the national campaign reaches its goal of vaccinating 52.46% of the total target group in the UAE,” the official added.

Al Owais said that daily reports about vaccine doses continue, and UAE is approaching 7 million vaccines in more than 205 medical centres in different regions of the country.

“This is a positive step that places the UAE among the countries with the highest vaccination rate,” Al Owais added.

The health minister lauded the efforts in order to make the vaccination drive successful.

“It is also an indication of the strength of the medical and health systems in the UAE. We are working hard to succeed in providing the vaccine to 100% of our people,” he said.

The official assured that vaccines will be made available to the public for free.

“Vaccines are available to everyone free, in various centres, operating at maximum capacity,” he said.

The official continues to urge the public to get vaccinated in order to return to their normal lives and end the pandemic. (TDT)
