The mother of flight attendant Christine Dacera, 23, who was found dead in a Makati hotel is seeking justice for her daughter.
Investigators at Makati City Police said they found indications of foul play in Dacera’s death. She was declared dead on arrival possibly due to ruptured aortic aneurysm.
In an interview with the media on Monday, Sharon Dacera said that her daughter even called her on New Year’s day to inform her on her whereabouts and to show the people she’s with.
“‘Sinong kasama mo, ‘nak?’ ‘Siyempre, ‘yung mga friends ko po rin na flight attendant.’ Sabi ko sino, so ‘yun pinakita niya sa’kin mga flight attendants. So, in short, since I really trust my daughter, sabi ko ‘Basta enjoy ka ‘te ha, enjoy enjoy lang ‘nak,’” Sharon said.
The mother said that she didn’t have any idea that something bad will happen to her daughter that day.
“Wala akong any presumption na something will happen to my daughter, because siyempre ang kasama niya, mga kasamahan niya ring flight attendant,” she said.
But it was the morning of January 1 when Sharon received the tragic news through a phone call from one of Christine’s friends, who happens to be one of the 11 suspects now.
“‘Bakit, ano ba nangyari sa anak ko?’ ‘Namatay na.’ So no’ng nagsabi siya na namatay na, ‘Ha? Nag-usap pa kami kanina 12:34 in the morning.’ Hindi ko alam kung anong gawin ko because physically, I’m not with my daughter,” she said.
Three of the suspects were arrested while eight men are still at large.
“Ba’t kailangan gawin ‘yun nila sa anak ko? I want to seek justice. Justice for my daughter na sana hindi rin ‘yan mangyari sa anak nila. Ni-rape nila ang anak ko. Sana hindi ‘yan mangyari sa kapatid niya, sa anak niya. Ayaw kong may mabiktima pa sila ulit,” Sharon said.
The family also believed that Christine was set up that is why she’s the only woman in the group of 11 men.
“Hindi inaasahan ng biktima na sa gabing ‘yun, ‘yun ang mga makakasama niya. Let’s just put it that way. She was supposed to be with friends and she was not supposed to be with strangers. She was with friends and suddenly, dumami sila,” family legal counsel Atty. Jose Ledda III said.
