Abu Dhabi Court orders payment of Dh400K compensation for man killed in workplace

The Abu Dhabi Cassation Court upheld rulings from lower courts granting a compensation worth of Dh400,000 to the family of a construction worker who died in the workplace.

The incident was reportedly due to the negligence of the man’s supervisor and site engineer.

In a report on the Khaleej Times, the court ordered the engineer of the construction site, the victim’s immediate supervisor, and their employer to jointly pay the compensation payout to the victim’s family.

The payout will cover the deceased man’s mother, wife, and two children.

Court documents showed that the Asian man was killed in a worksite accident.

Investigations revealed that the accident was brought by the negligence of the man’s superiors and disregard of safety requirements on site.

The man was the breadwinner of his family and the Abu Dhabi Court of First Instance and the appellant court said that the defendants should pay the amount for the material and moral damages for the family’s suffering.

Abu Dhabi’s top court has decided to rule on the matter after the company challenged the decision of the lower court.
