Another female expat now learned that the law in the UAE has teeth after she was arrested for posting a video showing her indifference towards the #StayHome campaign of Dubai Police.
According to a post by Dubai Police, they had tracked down the woman in the video that proliferated on social media.
The police force said the video encourages people to defy authorities’ social distancing instructions.
Her case has been referred to the Federal Public Prosecution for Information Technology Crimes.
Again, the Dubai Police stressed the importance of residents fully complying with the directives issued by authorities to safeguard public health.
Under the law, non-compliance with safety measures will lead to imprisonment and/or a fine of between Dh200,000 and Dh1 million.
