Coronavirus disease or COVID-19 cases have surpassed the numbers than its previous epicenter in China, prompting more lockdowns.
The United States and Europe both intensified their border control capacity to contain the spread of the virus.
Spain also became the fourth country with the most number of cases next to Iran, Italy and China.

The rate of infection in Spain is now at 20% or 9,191 and the number of fatalities rose to 309.
Spain’s interior minister said European Union nations on Monday said that closing borders is possible.
“It is a real possibility to fight against the expansion of the virus and to guarantee the health of European citizens,” Minister Fernando Grande Marlaska said.
Portugal and Spain suspended tourism activities along their borders.
Marlaska said a total lockdown could be the next step.

Italy is also implementing lockdown in the entire country.
Germany also restricted border crossings with France, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark and Luxembourg.
“We have a window of time at the moment to slow the spread of the virus,” German government spokeswoman Ulrike Demmer told reporters.
