The spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the United States has prompted the cancellation of the roundtable conference of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).
CFR was supposed to tackle “Doing Business Under Coronavirus” scheduled this Friday in New York, says a report from Bloomberg.
Apart from this, CFR also canceled other in-person conferences scheduled from March 11 to April 3.
Other major activities that were canceled or postponed include the annual New York auto show. According to the Greater New York Automobile Association, this will be moved to August this year.
There’s now a reported outbreak of COVID-19 in the suburb of New Rochelle in the said city.
Governor Andrew Cuomo has already announced the deployment of the National Guard to help close public gathering spaces in an effort to slow the spread of the outbreak.
There were already a total of 50 major corporate events with an estimated attendance of almost 1 million people that was so far affected by the spread of COVID-19 in the US.
