The leader of Italy’s co-ruling democratic party announced Saturday that he had contracted coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Reuters reported.
In a video posted on Facebook, Nicola Zingaretti said he tested positive for COVID-19 and he’s currently under isolation at home.

“So, it’s arrived, I also have coronavirus. I am fine, and therefore I am in quarantine at home. From here, I’ll continue to do what I can do. My family are also following the protocols,” he said.
He also added that all the people he had been in contact were being contacted to carry out tests.

Italy has been struggling to contain the fast-spreading which has infected around 5,800 people.
The country will impose lockdown on its northern area to contain the spread of the disease.
