The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the first Filipino who tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Singapore.
The Filipino patient is now in isolation and is now being monitored by Singaporean health officials.

“Singapore PE reported that a Filipino has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now in isolation at SG’s National Centre for Infectious Diseases. This is first confirmed case involving a Filipino in SG,” DFA Undersecretary Brigido Dulay said in a tweet.
He added that the Philippine Embassy in Singapore is now coordinating with health officials to look into people the patient came contact with.
“SG health officials to monitor the condition and well-being of our kababayan,” the DFA official said in another tweet.

Global death toll from novel coronavirus rises to 2,458 as Hubei province in China reports more deaths.
According to China’s National Health Commission, there were 97 new deaths reported in mainland China on Saturday, all but one of which were in Hubei, the province at the center of the outbreak.
