Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo has made the country proud after winning the first ever gold medal at the 49th FIG World Artistic Championships in Stuggart, Germany.
Many netizens said they felt proud of Yulo’s achievement as the Philippine national anthem played right after Yulo received his gold medal award.
“Ma, naka-gold na ko,” Yulo told reporters after he received his award.
The 19 year-old gymnast has been a consistent podium finisher. He was at third place last year.
He was able to top the men’s floor exercise final with a score of 15.300.
The athlete defeated gymnastics powerhouse from China and another country.
