Fans of veteran actor Eddie Garcia have called his followers to pray harder following reports his condition has been “deteriorating dramatically” some 96 hours after he stumbled on cable wires during a Tondo taping and broke his neck.
Quoting the actor’s long-time partner of 33 years Lillibeth Romero, Philippine Star reported that Garcia “ stumbled on a cable wire… hit his head on the pavement (and) broke his spinal cord.”
“It was the ‘freakest’ of accidents that could have been prevented,” Romero told the media outfit.
The latest medical bulletin issued by Makati Medical Center said that the actor is dependent on ventilator and medications to stabilize his blood pressure.
“Masyadong serious yung kanyang neck fracture,” Tony Rebosa, Garcia’s family doctor and spokesperson said in a press briefing.
The doctor said that Garcia’s family hasn’t signed any documents withdrawing the actor’s life support or a Do Not Resuscitate form.
Rebosa said that the actor has been bravely fighting his condition but he does not want to give any false hope on the actor’s condition.
“Everything is in God’s hands. He is still fighting, we need a miracle right now,” Rebosa said.
The doctor said that should Garcia recover there’s a big chance that the actor will be paralyzed.
