by | TOP STORIES

A 28-year-old Filipino maid was arrested at the Dubai International Airport a few minutes before her flight for theft charges filed by her employer against her.

The maid allegedly raided her Emirati employer’s safe, stole Dh27,900 worth of cash, jewelry, an Ipad, and her passport, then took off and planned to leave the country.

However, the employers who lived in Ajman, immediately reported the theft incident to the authorities.

The Ajman Police and the Dubai Police teamed up to catch the suspect an hour and a half before her plane took off.

The woman confessed to her crime during the interrogation, and the case has been referred to the public prosecution, Ajman Police said in a statement.

“Ajman Police will be ready and will deal firmly with all those who think of tampering with the security of the homeland and the safety of citizens and residents,” it added in a statement.
