This cuisine will be served mandatory in Abu Dhabi hotels

Four and five-star hotels in Abu Dhabi will mandatorily have an Emirati cuisine station with a minimum of three dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets, as mandated by Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA).

The initiative’s goal is to “conserve and promote the emirate’s culture, history and traditions,” according to Saif Saeed Ghobash, director general of TCA Abu Dhabi.

“Abu Dhabi is a melting pot of cultures and the authenticity of Emirati cuisine has been somewhat lost in the contemporary renditions of traditional cuisine,” Ghobash said in an article from The National.

Aside from buffet meals, at least two Emirati breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes will also be featured in room service menus.

Each dish will have a tent card that explains its history and the ingredients used.

TCA will train chefs to prepare the said meals and will conduct competitions for the best chef for Emirati cuisine and the best culinary promotion program.

“A key to that is using our rich cuisine to ensure optimal engagement for visitors seeking fully immersive cultural experiences,” Ghobash said.
