ABS-CBN approaches Supreme Court for TRO vs NTC's cease and desist order

ABS-CBN Corporation has now asked the country’s Supreme Court to issue a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the National Telecommunications Company’s (NTC) cease and desist order (CDO).
The media giant submitted a 46-page petition, where it asked the high court set aside the CDO, stating that the NTC has ‘gravely abused’ its discretion upon the issuance of the order.

ABS-CBN alleges that NTC’s CDO violates the public’s right to information and curtails the freedom of speech, in addition to ‘causing serious and irreparable damage’ on the network along with thousands of employees, should the CDO continue.
The network furthered that the CDO violated the media giant’s right to equal protection of the law and the right to due process.
